It would be fair to say that Xiangbala is as real as it gets, as evidenced by the tables filled with contented Chinese diners, eating, chatting and savouring their nation’s cuisine. Xiangbala Hot Pot isn’t just for Asian palates though; anyone who nurses affection for good Chinese food – i.e pretty much everyone – should be enamoured with what’s on offer in this cosy Dalry Road eatery. This is no-nonsense food, the sort that’s slurped, drank straight from the bowl and shovelled away using chopsticks and whatever else it takes to complete the journey from bowl to mouth in the quickest time possible. Bowls of steaming broth are generously filled with pakchoi, squid, chicken, soy beef, tofu and all kinds of other goodies that only reveal themselves after a generous stir. Tuck in and be happy.

Best hot pot spot in Glasgow-- also the best I've had all over UK. Fresh ingredients, delicious seafood, authentic Chinese snacks, extraordinary lamb! The most important thing that I want to mention is the soup base. I have had countless types of different hot pot back in China and in New York, and I know the one thing that determines the quality of a hotpot restaurant is their soup base. This is easily one of the top 5 soup bases among the hundreds of different kinds of hotpot I've had all over the world in my life. The owner told me that she had visited tons of Sichuan hotpot restaurants in Sichuan to taste their secret recipes, so that she can create the most unique and flavorful soup base of her own. And she did it. It was sooooooo good. Very spicy and flavorful. You can also make your own dipping sauce at the sauce bar. Awesome place. Highly recommended! If you want to try authentic Sichuan hotpot in the UK, this place would be my top of the list!
