Old Mill Inn

Five miles outside Aberdeen on the way to Maryculter lies a historic pub. The 200-year-old building is the home of The Old Mill Inn, its whitewashed walls a familiar sight to drivers passing along South Deeside Road. The Inn doubles as a hotel and restaurant, with guests given the choice of seven en suite rooms complete with a range of amenities and full Scottish breakfast. For hotel guests, passing motorists and tourists exploring Royal Deeside, however, the focal point of the Old Mill Inn is its restaurant. Tartan carpet, dark wooden beams and rich velvet upholstery give the restaurant a warm, traditional feel. The menu contains as mixture of pub favourites, comfort food and Scottish specialities, created using seasonal produce where possible. Main course options incude Chicken with Chorizo and Wensleydale Cheese Stuffing and Pan-Fried Pheasant Breast with Saute New Potatoes and a Redcurrant Jus. Vegetarian options come in the form of roast vegetable dishes, lasagne, garden salad and fresh penne pasta. The bar, which is a popular haunt for Milltimber and Culter residents, serves a good selection of beer, wine, malt whiskies and real ales.
