Its name evocative of something out of a Harry Potter novel, Young’s Interesting Books is a much-loved Glasgow institution. Bookworms and history buffs will be in seventh heaven after stumbling upon this wee gem of a bookstore, tucked away on Glasgow’s Skirving Street. Secondhand and antiquarian books are a speciality; this is the sort of bookshop where you could easily while away an hour or two, turning the pages of dusty tomes as you take a trip into the past and find yourself tumbling through the centuries. With sections dedicated to Scottish history, art and philosophy, there’s enough here to cater to most tastes. Like any respectable second-hand bookstore, Young’s is piled high with yellowed annuals, almanacs, cookery books, encyclopedias and compendiums. A fascinating snapshot of the past, Young’s Interesting Books certainly lives up to its name.
