Ballumbie Castle Golf Club is a welcome addition to the Dundee golfing scene: it’s a fairly new course, but has already become popular with the locals. A fantastic clubhouse and excellent practice facilities are some of the main reasons why golfers choose Ballumbie, though the course itself is no less impressive. The mixed terrain sweeps and twists; you certainly won’t find two holes the same throughout its entirety. For the first six holes, positioning is more important than distance, but as you make your way to the tenth you’ll notice the difficulty and range increasing. If you need to get in a bit of practice, the club has a 20-bay covered driving range: floodlit at night, you’ll be able to pitch and drive whenever you want. Ballumbie also offers a wide range of ‘credit crunch’ deals, perfect for large groups who fancy a day out on the course. For as little as £36 per person, you’ll be able to play 36 holes and to sample the delights of the restaurant in between play: bacon rolls for breakfast, soup for lunch, and a sumptuous two-course meal will make sure you’re fuelled up for the day.
