Italia Nostra – which translates as ‘Our Italy’ – is Stirling’s premier Italian restaurant, and a source of authentic Mediterranean cooking. You don’t need to travel to Rome or Venice to enjoy real Italian pizzas when you can find them on your doorstep at Italia Nostra. The menu offers a range of hearty dishes, from pizzas and pastas to main courses based around meat, fish and vegetables. The veal and beef steaks come highly recommended; daily specials are also available. Italia Nostra is a regular haunt for local businessmen throughout the week with its express lunches proving to be popular, while at weekends a more diverse crowd can be found. Portions are generous, and are cooked using locally-sourced ingredients where possible. There’s also a tempting dessert menu, which offers everything from ice cream to tiramisu. Staff are lovely, with service that’s friendly without feeling overly-attentive. The interior décor is warm; simple pastel colours complementing the clean white tablecloths. An evening in Italia Nostra is certainly a night to remember, with excellent food served up in a cosy atmosphere.

We booked at the last minute for this restaurant, as our preferred one doesn’t open on Mondays and Tuesdays. The menu was good, the service excellent as were all of the staff we interacted with but we felt it was a bit pricey although the size of the portions can’t be faulted, the house white wasn’t as good a quality as hoped for. However, we’ll worth a visit.

On a wet, dark autumn night, we came across this lovely restaurant. The Italian sun seemed to shine out of the staff and the plates. The welcome was warm, the food excellent and the bill reasonable.

Lovely food and great service. Would definitely recommend for a nice family get together, or a lovely date night. Food made with care and served with a smile.
