Croma is an award-winning chain of restaurants that is forging a name for itself across the UK. Its north of England establishments have now been complemented by an Edinburgh outlet housed within the Odeon cinema on Lothian Road. Service in its latest outlet is efficient yet courteous, while decor is slick and contemporary without being soulless. The Italian menu is based around light pizzas, salads and pasta, with fresh basil, mozzarella, anchovies and pepperoni in abundance. Neapolitan style pizzas are hand stretched and baked at 750º before being served hot, crispy and bursting with flavour. An early bird menu promises a drink and main course for a fixed price, and is a popular option with couples planning a movie night. Dinner then cinema isn’t mandatory, but with the Odeon just down the stairs, it seems the obvious choice – a relaxing end to a perfect evening. Croma’s wine list is stocked with a decent selection of Sicilian whites and reds alongside Chilean and South African options, while the dessert menu is packed with tempting treats. Tiramisu and sticky toffee pudding vie for attention alongside affogato – vanilla ice cream ‘drowned’ in espresso coffee.

Very busy at lunch time I think with office workers, a good sign the food is good.We had the lunch deal pizza or pasta and a glass of wine for £8.95.The food was hot and tasty the service was a little slow but they were busy and we had time as we were going to see a film. I would definitely return.
