McSorleys

Live music, good ale and quality food. That’s the simple premise behind McSorleys, formerly The Alehouse. The Clerk Street venue has been extensively refurbished and transformed into a bustling bar where there’s always something happening. Bands and acoustic artists can be found performing on any given night of the week, interspersed with the occasional comedy event to keep things fresh. There’s the also the prospect of band-aoke, in which karaoke favourites are performed by the house band. Grab the mic and get involved. Part of Newington’s new wave of pubs, McSorleys has earned praise for its upbeat atmosphere and excellent beer selection. An exhaustive range of draught, cask and bottled beers caters to most tastes, with three real ales available at any given time. During the day, the bar serves as a chilled spot in which to nurse a pint or linger over lunch, but it quickly gets busy in the evening as the lights dim and the band plugs in. Student offers feature prominently, while a cocktail menu comes into its own on weekends. McSorleys has earned high praise for its food, with the handmade pizzas a notable highlight. Spinach, free range egg and chorizo with fresh guacamole on the side? Give it a try and you’ll never order a Hawaiian again.

No better place in Edinburgh to watch Live sport, they have 5 x 20ft screens. Live music is on every night of an excellent standard. The staff were great also, will definitely be back!!!
