Dundee’s most famous shopping centre, Wellgate is a large mall that houses a host of big name brands. Under one roof, shoppers can take their pick from high street names such as New Look, BHS and Claire’s. Set across three levels, the centre stocks the latest fashions, beauty products, household furnishings and gifts. When it’s time to eat, the Wellgate has cafes and restaurants in abundance; pick up a meatball foot-long from Subway, grab a flame-grilled burger or linger over tea and cake in the BHS Cafe. The modern complex attracts shoppers from across the region, as well as bargain-hunters from Aberdeenshire to the north. Situated in the very centre of Dundee, access to the shopping centre couldn’t be easier – there are three entrances to choose from and the bus station is a five-minute walk away. The Wellgate hosts various events throughout the year, including an extravagant Christmas display and children’s attractions. Kids parties are hosted at Bears ‘n’ Buddies Workshop on the second floor. For cut-price goods, Poundland has all the answers, while the centre’s Iceland store does the same for food. The Works stocks books and games; BB’s Coffee & Muffins keeps shoppers fuelled and Pavers takes care of footwear. All told, there are enough stores, stalls and outlets in the Wellgate centre to comfortably fill a day’s shopping in the City of Discovery.

As a child I love watching the big characteristic clock, still facinates me as a woman in her prime although I do not miss the over expensive shopping. Sad to see BHS closing down as I have purchased goods which were reasonable and good quality
