The Glee Club is an iconic Cardiff venue where
star comedians perform from Friday to Sunday,
with shows by well-known touring bands making
up the entertainment during the week. It’s located
in Mermaid Quay, a waterfront development
with great parking, bars, restaurants and shops;
the club can be found at the end of Bute Street
opposite Zizzi’s. The Glee forms a superb
auditorium where every member of the audience
gets a perfect view of the stage to see the best
comedians, music acts, special events and
spoken word performances. Opened in 2001, the
venue makes up part of the picturesque Cardiff
Bay development which, with its bars, restaurants
and picturesque location, guarantees a great night
out. In the past, The Glee has been privileged to
host comedians such as Michael McIntyre, Alan
Carr, Sarah Millican, Jack Whitehall and music
acts including Laura Marling, Cerys Matthews,
Gruff Rhys and The Staves. The Cardiff Glee is
host to an eclectic variety of shows including best
in live standup comedy. The Glee is more than
just a performance venue though: it also boasts
great food to complement the superb comedians,
intimate music gigs and specialist shows such as
burlesque and spoken word performances. It’s a
popular venue for birthdays, company nights out,
Christmas parties or just a bit of light relief from
the working week, providing a chance to unwind,
laugh and appreciate some of the country’s best
performers. Live music has always flourished in
the enticing show environment provided by The
Glee Cardiff, regularly staging tour shows where
a broad spectrum of singer-songwriters, indie
rock, pop, electronic, jazz, roots, blues and world
musicians perform. Many artists have played
legendary early shows here before progressing to
become thrilling pathfinders and trailblazers.
