ECOVENTURES
If you like a side order of
adrenaline to accompany your
wildlife watching, you’d do well
to check out Ecoventures,
which operates out of the
historic village of Cromarty, 30
minutes’ drive from Inverness.
Board a twin-engine, high-
speed RIB (rigid inflatable
boat) as you take to the inner
Moray Firth, then prepare to
let your hair down before the
wind does it for you. During
the two-hour ride, keep a keen
eye peeled for the resident
colony of bottlenose dolphins,
as well as the thriving seabird
colony. You may also catch a
glimpse of seals, porpoises
and, if you’re exceedingly
lucky, the fleeting minke whale
has been known to make
a cameo appearance. This
passionate,
fully-accredited
company put their customers
first, taking great pains to craft
an experience that lives long
in the memory. The guides are
knowledgeable,
informative
and friendly, from the safety
briefing to the moment you
disembark. Refreshments are
provided during the trip and
parking is free. Moreover,
Ecoventures offer film and
photography charters, ideal if
you want to add high-res snaps
of bottlenose dolphins to your
professional reel. All in all, it’s
a fabulous way to take in the
stunning craggy coastline and
rare wildlife.
