The Coorie-In is a brand new Scottish restaurant

that’s on a mission to shake up the west of

Scotland’s formal dining scene. Situated on

Cumbernauld’s Main street, the Coorie-In is fast

earning a reputation for putting out adventurous

but satisfying fare accompanied by an inventive

cocktail list. Dishes are beautifully plated, but

this isn’t just Instagram-friendly food: this is food

that tastes every bit as good as it looks, whether

tucking into the seafood, something from the grill

or a lighter vegetarian option. The Coorie-In is

open from 12pm daily, offering a lunch menu

that starts with soup of the day served with warm

sourdough bread and butter. Alternatively, there’s a

warm salad of beetroot, goat’s cheese, walnut and

heather honey that comes highly recommended.

As for the main course, you could go all in and

order the cider braised pig’s cheek, or you could

plump for the pan roasted hake, which is served

with cauliflower cooked three ways. The ingredients

on the menu might be familiar, but the imaginative

ways they’ve been paired and cooked is what

makes the Coorie-In such a breath of fresh air.

A contemporary Scottish menu includes comfort

food such as haggis, neeps and tatties along with

more adventurous fare such as a wild mushroom

and chestnut crumble. From Buccleuch steaks

to seafood that was caught in Scottish waters,

much of what makes the Coorie-In so good hails

from very close to home. The Scotch beef steaks

have been dry aged and are served with hand cut

chips, roast tomato, field mushroom and onion

rings. Choose from fillet, rib eye or sirloin and then

decide whether you’d like to accompany it with blue

cheese, whisky, diane or peppercorn sauce. After a

memorable dinner with friends, unwind with a fine

single malt or a zingy cocktail at the cosy bar area.
