Whatever your golfing handicap,
you can expect a thoroughly warm
welcome at the Northenden Golf
Club. Located in SouthManchester,
the historic club – which celebrated
its 100th anniversary in 2013 –
is prized for its 18-hole, 6,460
yard parkland course. Open
year-round, Northenden boasts
undulating USGA greens and a
first-class drainage system. The
par 74 course is characterised
by a number of imposing trees,
meaning accuracy off the tee is of
the utmost importance. Moreover,
if a wayward shot is caught by the
gust, your ball could end up in the
drink; the River Mersey borders
the course along its eastern flank.
All in all, the course provides a
testing but thoroughly enjoyable
challenge. Coaching is available
at Northenden, with sessions
conducted both in the indoor
teaching facility and on the main
course. A practice ground, located
alongside the teaching facility,
boasts several practice nets,
yardage markers, a bunker and a
chipping green. After sharpening
your skills, head to the lavish bar
and dining area. The clubhouse
balcony overlooks the 18th hole
and the chipping green, making
it an ideal spot for private parties
or even wedding celebrations. If
