Hotel
Set in a cluster of 17th-century cottages surrounding
a courtyard near the University of Oxford campus,
this family-run hotel features quaint country-chic
rooms. Each one is individually decorated and
features flatscreen TV, free WiFi, minibar and
tea and coffee-making facilities. Some offer four-
poster beds, exposed wood beams or vaulted
ceilings. A set of steep stairs leads to the second-
storey rooms. Buffet-style Continental breakfast is
included and served in a casual dining room, as
is afternoon tea. There’s a cosy bar and lounge
with a fireplace. The cottages nestle between New
College, one of the University’s oldest colleges,
and Hertford College, established in the thirteenth
century. The New College Bell Tower, which has
been in continual use since the thirteenth century,
is visible from many of the hotel’s rooms. The small,
family run hotel forms a friendly retreat close to the
Sheldonian Theatre and the Bodleian Library.
