In addition to award-winning authentic Aagrah

cuisine, Crystal Peaks serves up 60 dishes

showcasing cuisine from around the world. The

          respected restaurant chain’s buffet-only dining

concept has proven to be a runaway success, but

diners wanted more, demanding the Kashmiri dishes

they knew and loved from eating at sister restaurants

in West Yorkshire and Sheffield’s Leopold Square.

As a consequence, a compact a la carte menu

featuring their best-known speciality dishes was

created especially for Crystal Peaks diners. Set in

its own grounds with a large car park, this is a vast

restaurant that cost a six-figure sum to assemble.

The investment has paid off however. The decor

is modern contemporary, there’s a chic bar by the

entrance and to the right a large, glass-walled

seating area. On the opposite side of the capacious

restaurant is the purpose-built world buffet section

with an open-plan theatre kitchen where white-coated

chefs calmly cook. After gazing in awe at row upon

row of gleaming silver serving tureens and lifting

lids to survey the appetising contents, your stomach

should be rumbling and you’ll be ready to pile your

first plate high. The buffet is great value, delivering

three courses and all you can eat for a fixed price

Sundays to Thursdays and just £1 more on Fridays

and Saturdays. There’s also an a la carte menu

available, though the drinks menu is actually larger

than the food menu. There are some magnificent

sounding cocktails: try the Raspberry Collins, made

with Bombay Sapphire gin and raspberry juice, or

keep things traditional with an Indian beer. There are

12 starters to choose from including shami kebabs

which are beautifully scented with cinnamon and

nutmeg followed by gosht achar, meltingly-soft lamb

in a hot sauce bursting with ginger, methi, mustard

and coriander seeds. A family owned business set

up 36 years ago, Aagrah is a Sheffield success story.
