At one time a well-received pop-
up restaurant, Home now calls
Wellington Place, well, home
– and the foodies can’t get
enough. While the restaurant
exudes a sophisticated air,
with its super-high ceilings,
exposed
columns,
hand-
crafted up-cycled furniture and
stainless steel shelving, the
prime reason why diners keep
returning is the quality of the
food on offer. From hot and sour
Asian chicken broth to seared
scallop linguine with garlic
chilli oil and wilted greens,
the dishes are imaginative,
well-presented and above all
delicious. The desserts, too,
are mouthwatering – buttermilk
panna cotta with strawberry
compote and sable biscuit
is perhaps the pick of the
bunch. Sticking to its pop-
up ethos, every few months
Home gives a new local artist
a chance to put their stamp on
the reception area. The city is
also championed where beers
are concerned: local titles from
Ireland’s oldest independent
brewery, Hilden, can be ordered
at the bar. Not contend with
being one of Belfast’s premier
restaurants, Home also serves
takeaway lunch from their deli
counter. Grab a freshly-made
sandwich or soup, or pop by in
the evening for tapas dishes.
You can’t go wrong.
