black exterior, The Globe is
a characterful drinking spot.
The Dundee pub exudes a
unique vibe, one accrued
through centuries of patronage.
Established in 1823, the pub
is something of a Dundee
institution and attracts a blend
of students, professionals and
tourists. The first thing that’ll
strike you upon walking through
its doors is the decor. There’s a
nautical theme to The Globe,
with marine paraphernalia
affixed to the walls. Elsewhere,
colourful comics are on display
including Oor Wullie and The
Beano, a tribute to local icons
DC Thomson. The Belhaven-
owned bar offers a popular
food menu, which combines
fresh ingredients with sensible
prices. Giant plates are
designed for sharing, while
larger appetites will relish
the Mega Burger Challenge,
crammed with two beef patties,
Southern fried chicken and
pulled pork. When football or
other major sporting events are
on, the bar fills up fast. Grab a
pint and find a convenient spot
in which to catch the action.
Children are welcome in the
pub till 8pm, while sections of
the bar can be reserved for
parties and other events. For
