Open daily from 6am to 8pm, Zest is something
of an institution in a town that’s hardly short of
institutions. It’s the sort of place where the banter
flies and the air is redolent of freshly ground
coffee and freshly squeezed oranges. The South
Street cafe is ideal for popping into for a quick
coffee on the way to work or a leisurely lunch as
your schedule permits. While food to go is always
an option, the atmosphere is more conducive to
lingering over a generously filled sandwich while
you sip the froth off a cappuccino. Much more
than just a coffee shop, Zest also does a bustling
outside catering trade, providing sandwiches and
finger food for corporate events, team-building
exercises, office lunches and other get-togethers.
Locals are more enamoured with Zest on account
of the simple things it does well however; healthy
smoothies, delicious coffee and thick, hearty lentil
soup. On days when the weather is amenable, al
fresco dining is the way to go, but the rest of the
time the cosy cafe forms a warm and welcoming
haven. The Zest team are committed to supporting
healthy living and recently partnered with Better
FIT to dispense free smoothies to Fitness Unlocked
participants. It’s just one of many ways in which Zest
can be found engaging with the local community.
Of course, healthy living doesn’t have to come at
the expense of forgoing treats altogether. Zest has
its fair share of indulgent cakes and traybakes that
form the perfect partner to a mid-morning cuppa,
including a gluten-free sour cherry and hazelnut
traybake that’s too good to decline. To mitigate
the guilt, order one of Zest’s exquisite salads for
lunch. Loaded with seeds, mozzarella, broccoli,
green beans and pasta, each one’s bursting with
goodness, flavour and zest.
