CAFES, BARS & CLUBS
The Post Office may not seem
the most obvious place for a
raucous night out, but then
Broughty Ferry’s Post Office
isn’t like all the others – it’s a
bar. No stamps, but plenty
of foot-stamping tunes and
good beer, which is always a
winning combination. Why the
name, incidentally? Because
this cavernous building used
to be a Post Office of course.
These days, its customers are
made up of students seeking
a cheap drink, couples looking
to cosy up and families in
search of an affordable meal.
Sports are shown on the big
screen, food is served all day
and the busy bar is awash with
chatter. The pub is prized for
its meals just as much as its
gleaming beer taps, thanks to
a simple menu that’s packed
with hearty classics: steak and
ale pie, lasagne, burgers and
the perennially popular Sunday
roast. The Post Office Bar also
has a function room that can
be hired for birthdays, wedding
parties and other occasions.
During the week, the pub runs
a number of special offers to
tempt punters through its doors,
including meal deals and drinks
promos. On match days – be it
rugby or football – the bar has
a real buzz about it. Order a
pint, pull up a seat and prepare
to cheer on your time from the
comfort of The Post Office.
