Lady Libertine is set across two levels: the ground-

floor cafe and wine bar, and basement restaurant

and bar, with a total capacity of 150. The building

was once the Bank of Scotland HQ on St Andrew

Square, but has since been converted into an

elegant and effortlessly cool eating and drinking

establishment, open daily from 9am. This breakfast

through to late night venue provides an unusual

cocktail list, fresh tasty food and stylish relaxed

surroundings. The menu has a strong Greek

influence, led by Executive Chef Nico Ewert, with

          nourishing, fresh ingredients including pulses,

exotic spices and slow cooked meats. Feast on

dishes such as harissa hummus, fava bean falafel,

pork souvlaki gyros, lamb shawarma, sabich,

charred cauliflower and baba ganoush. Grab some

mezze to share with friends, a kebab to yourself,

or some bar nibbles to savour with a glass of wine.

Tropicana is Edinburgh’s most popular ‘80s

nightclub, as the city’s student and working

population will attest. A remarkably diverse music

policy incorporates everything from pop to rock,

but there is one caveat attached: it has to be

‘80s. Club Tropicana doesn’t just relive the ‘80s

          – it celebrates them in some style, with decor to

match the cheesy pop tunes. Student nights are

always raucous, with a large selection of drinks

deals to keep the good times flowing. Frequent

clubbers would do well to pick up a membership

card. Not only are these free, but they promise

free admission on weekends before 11:30pm and

20% off drinks all night. From A-ha to ZZ Top, the

‘80s gave birth to a host of stars and an array of

timeless anthems, the best of which are always

on rotation in the club where time stands still. You

haven’t experienced the decade’s highest highs

until you’ve partied hard at Club Tropicana.
