The Stand Comedy Club
with its sister venues in both
Glasgow and Newcastle has
become world renowned for
top class comedy. When you
mention comedy in these
cities everyone will say ‘you
mean the Stand’. Anyone
who is anyone in the world
of comedy has played on the
tiny stage in this intimate cellar
bar. Situated on York place in
the heart of the New Town the
Stand is open seven nights a
week. The Stand has become
a favourite haunt for locals and
tourists wishing to see comedy
in its purest form. Thursday,
Friday and Saturday nights are
weekend specials featuring
five comedians but be quick
to book as these shows
sell out most weekends.
Monday night is Red Raw the
legendary new material night
for only £3 featuring up to
ten acts. If you fancy seeing
the likes of Frankie Boyle,
Kevin Bridges, Josie Long and
other big names in a purpose
built intimate environment
the Stand is the place to
visit. It’s always vibrant and
has become a staple part of
the Edinburgh cultural and
entertainment scene.
