Pier Eight is The Lowry’s new
restaurant and bar and it’s
simply stunning. Set against the
jagged skyline of Salford Quays
and Media City, the restaurant
serves up contemporary British
cuisine made with seasonal
ingredients. Harmonious food
pairings are deftly prepared
to preserve all the natural
flavour of the raw ingredients.
Try the Port of Lancaster
smoked salmon to start,
served with asparagus spears
and horseradish mousse, or
plump for the black pudding
accompanied by a hash brown,
shallot rings and a poached
egg. It shouldn’t work, but
it does – brilliantly. Seafood
features prominently, with
roasted sea trout and cod
gracing the menu alongside
beef, chicken and lamb. If
you’ve room for dessert, the
butterscotch and caramelised
apple trifle goes down very
nicely. The gleaming new
restaurant and bar is a popular
pre-theatre haunt and has also
become a firm favourite with
residents of Salford Quays.
Calming colours and delicate
textures create a relaxing
environment in which to linger
over a hearty meal with friends.
