Oxford United FC play at the
Kassam Stadium, named
after the ground’s owner
and former chairman of the
football club, Firoz Kassam.
To date, the Kassam Stadium
has staged nothing higher
than third-tier league football,
but Oxford were promoted
in the 2015-16 season and
the club’s fortunes appear
to be on the up. The club
was previously based at
The Manor Ground, where
it played its matches from
1925 up until the opening
of the Kassam Stadium in
2001. The League One team
were founded in 1893 as
Headington United before
adopting
their
current
name in 1960. Getting to
the ground on match day
couldn’t be simpler: Oxford
Station is roughly four miles
from the stadium and The
Oxford Bus Company route
City 5 runs from the station
to Knights Road, a five-
minute walk to the ground. Is
