The Joiners is a thriving local brewing its own good
value Swansea ales. There are usually three of
these to choose from along with guest ales and
reasonably priced straightforward food. Staff are
friendly and the unpretentious quarry-tiled bar has
a distinctly cosy vibe about it thanks to its huge
solid fuel stove and comfortable lounge. The TV
shows big rugby matches, children are welcome
and the bar does a roaring trade all day. The on-site
brewery is an undoubted highlight. Don’t expect to
see Three Cliffs Gold, Deep Slade Dark or Original
Wood on supermarket shelves just yet as most of
the beer is sold locally. Pop in for Sunday lunch to
savour the old-fashioned decor, great atmosphere
and hearty, generous servings of traditional British
pub food. The beer’s excellent, the chat’s lively and
the time flies when you’re perched at the bar and
immersed in the moment.

THE THREE SISTERS

The Three Sisters is a no-nonsense pub
specialising in good value food and cheap drinks.
The menu is well stocked, with a good range of
British classics coupled with a few contemporary
world favourites, and the bar is open till midnight
on weekends, closing an hour earlier during the
week. If you’re in for food, start things off with a
combo sharing plate loaded with chips, garlic
mushrooms, onion rings, garlic bread, coleslaw
and southern fried chicken, with salsa and BBQ
sauce for dipping. Follow this up with prime BBQ
pork ribs, a Celtic pride beef burger or a grilled
chicken burger. Alternatively, hearty eaters may
fancy the 7oz rump steak, served with half a
grilled tomato, a dressed salad garnish, chips
and garden peas. Finish it all with an indulgent
chocolate fudge cake comprising layers of
chocolate sponge covered with chocolate fudge
and served with vanilla ice-cream.
