ART GALLERY
The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is a public gallery
situated on Alexandra Road. The Glynn Vivian’s
exhibitions programme brings the work of today’s
artists alive with its sharp, contemporary overview of
the arts in a local, national and international context.
The programme includes work by emerging and
established artists based in Swansea and Wales,
together with internationally renowned artists. The
creation of the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery was made
possible when in 1905 Richard Glynn Vivian offered
his collection of paintings, drawings and china to
the city with an endowment of £10,000. The donor
laid the foundation stone himself in 1909, but it was
after his death that the Gallery was formally opened
in 1911. The gallery displays a broad spectrum of
visual arts from the original bequest of Richard
Glynn Vivian and includes work by Old Masters as
well as an international collection of porcelain.

Simply Play is an exciting two-level indoor facility
for children up to 12 years old that includes areas
to explore, obstacles to overcome and games
to play. The pièce de résistance is its epic slide.
Open seven days a week with a Starbucks cafe
to keep grownups refreshed, Simply Play features
a specific area for younger kids and toddlers and
a separate baby area. There’s an interactive ball
play zone, an infinity tile, a swan carousel, a wave
slide and twin lane wavy slide plus a seating area
for parents, carers and supervisors. While the little
ones busy themselves with conquering the jungle,
parents can sit back and savour a quality cup of
coffee and a bite to eat. Not surprisingly, Simply
Play is a hugely popular venue for birthday parties.
Let the little ones tire themselves out in a safe and
supervised environment under the watchful eye of
the soft play centre’s friendly staff.
