Lychees is a Chinese restaurant and takeaway
that satisfies the townsfolk of Ayr’s desire for
authentic Asian food that’s freshly cooked to
order. Established in 2011, the restaurant has
succeeded with its range of contemporary Chinese
dishes that are blessed with a western twist where
appropriate. Owner Peter Fong has over 20 years’
experience in the restaurant business and under
his stewardship, Lychees has flourished from the
very outset. Open from Tuesday to Sunday from
12pm, the restaurant rustles up lunch and dinner
coupled with a popular takeaway and delivery
service. For sit-in diners, it’s possible to savour
a leisurely meal washed down with authentic
Chinese beer or a bottle of red from a hand-picked
wine list supplied by Alexander Wines. Whether
tucking into tze chiu beef served with black bean
sauce or sweet and sour tiger prawns served
Hong Kong style, you’re in for quite a treat.

China Palace is a buffet restaurant and takeaway
that’s well loved by the residents of Kilwinning. It
does the little things well, and what’s more it does
them affordably; from salt and pepper chicken
wings to fried mussels in sweet chilli garlic sauce,
food is piquant, fragrant and infused with all the
herbs and spices that make Chinese cuisine
taste great. Open from 12pm to 2pm during the
week and then from 4:30pm to 11pm, the buffet
restaurant allows diners to pile their plates high
with all their favourite dishes. Load up on honey
chilli chicken, duck satay, kung po beef, szechuan
king prawn and Cantonese pancake rolls. There
are free prawn crackers with takeaway orders
over £16, naturally, and an attention to detail that
marks China Palace out as being a cut above
your average Chinese restaurant. Try it and see
for yourself.
