8 Dunure Road, Doonfoot, Ayr
South Ayrshire, KA7 4HR
01292 442441
Located just along the road from Burns Cottage,
The Balgarth Pines offers one of the finest dining
experiences in all of Ayr. The decor is cosy and
rustic, with stone walls, wood panelling, and tartan-
covered upholstery throughout. The beer garden is
a similarly impressive space, while large umbrellas
protect diners from the possibility of rain showers.
The food menu leans sharply towards Scottish
contemporary, with plenty of fresh seafood options
in addition to meat and vegetarian dishes. The
kitchen is certainly doing something right; dishes
like pan-fried fillet of sea bass, served alongside a
spicy chorizo pil-pil stew, showcase a degree of flair,
while offerings from the chargrill – double-loin pork
chops, rib-eyes and T-bones – are generous enough
in portion to satisfy even the hungriest of diners. As
well as being a top-calibre eatery, the Balgarth hosts
quizzes every Wednesday. Open seven days per
week, the Balgarth is well worth a look.
