This museum dates back to the Victorian era,
when it was a private collection of artefacts
relating to birds, bones, butterflies and fossils. It
brings an informative and educational experience
while delving into natural history. Get involved with
plenty of interactive displays and activities sure to
delight visitors of all ages. Bring the kids to early
years sessions with messy arts and crafts and
storytelling, or arrange a school visit incorporating
sessions for all the Key Stages - a great day out
for teachers and pupils alike. Or you could book
a Behind the Scenes Tour, for exclusive access
to hidden collections. Best of all, entry to the
museum won’t cost you a penny, although there
is a gift shop for a range of souvenirs. There’s
also free wifi and a range of great events running
throughout the year. The museum is open every
day, except Thursdays, Christmas and New Year.
ROYAL PAVILION

4/5 Pavilion Buildings, Brighton, BN1 1EE

The iconic Royal Pavilion is one of the most
recognisable buildings in Brighton. It was originally
built with the purpose of providing King George
IV with a seaside palace. The architecture is a
fascinating blend of Indian and Chinese style with
accents of Regency pomp. It later took on roles
as both a civic building and a wartime hospital
before opening its doors to the general public as
a tourist attraction. Here you can learn about the
Pavilion’s fascinating 200-year history, explore
its grand rooms and artworks and discover the
stories of its past inhabitants. Audio tours in many
languages are available to enhance your visit and
an amble around the extensive gardens is sure to
delight. Refresh with a drink or meal in the quirky
but refined Tearoom or cream tea or snack at the
Tea Company, then pick up a souvenir in the shop
before you leave.
