Plateau is an independent
restaurant and popular wine
bar situated on Bartholomews
Road. Taking its inspiration
from a Parisian cafe, the
eatery is inviting, rustic and
contemporary, with pine-plank
floors, exposed brickwork,
brushed steel bar stools,
wooden tables and gorgeous
stained glass windows. Opt for
a delicious three-course meal
or a selection of indulgent light
bites, the better to pair with your
tonic of choice; Plateau offers
one of the city’s most extensive
wine lists, as well as a terrific
cocktail menu. The food, as you
might expect, is largely French-
focused, with most diners
choosing to go Dutch on the
sharing platters. Whether you
wish to break bread with your
companion or have a meal all
to yourself, you’ll find there are
plenty of fine options to choose
from. These include braised
shallot and parmesan ravioli,
roast guinea fowl breast with
truffled gnocchi and carrot-and-
mushroom consommé and ox
tongue with snails, lentils and
ventreche. Both the specials
board and regular main menu
