GLENGOYNE
DISTILLERY
You don’t have to travel to Islay
or Speyside to experience
a working Scottish whisky
distillery – Glasgow’s got it’s
very own one at Dumgoyne,
just north of the city. Glengoyne
is that rare breed: a lowlands
distillery producing Highland
single malt whisky, which it
matures at its West Coast
facility. Take a trip to Glengoyne
Distillery and you can learn
all about the whisky-making
process, whilst indulging a
dram or two of the good stuff,
naturally. The Glengoyne story
involves complex whiskies
being slowly brought to bear
in the finest casks. Patience is
the watchword here; you can’t
rush a good malt whisky, as
a tour of Glengoyne Distillery
will demonstrate. Glengoyne
doesn’t just taste the part
incidentally – it also looks the
part. Many would declare it to
be Scotland’s most beautiful
distillery, and it would be hard to
argue; set in mature woodland
at the foot of a verdant valley,
the distillery espouses many
of the characteristics for which
Scotland is famous. Whether
whisky runs through your veins
or you’re new to the amber
nectar, after visiting Glengoyne
Distillery you’ll have a newfound
appreciation for Scotland’s
national drink.
