Smiths Bar & Restaurant is an integral part of
Ayrshire’s dining scene. Food, drink and live
entertainment can be enjoyed in a relaxed

welcome. Situated in the centre of town, the bar
prides itself on offering a vast selection of drinks
including wine, beer and spirits. While warm and
cosy during the winter months, Smiths comes into
its own in the summer. Grab a pint, find a picnic

– generously-portioned and freshly made – which
can be eaten at the bar our outside on the terrace.
Food is served till 9pm; afterwards attention
generally turns to the sports events being shown

The Twa Dugs is a traditional Scottish pub, one
that epitomises the best elements of Ayrshire;
good hospitality and rich heritage – heritage that
includes the life and works of the nation’s favourite
bard, Robert Burns. In fact, the pub takes its name
from a Burns poem that was composed in 1789,
in which a rich man’s dog converses with a poor
man’s collie. Today, rich, poor and pooch alike
are extended a warm welcome in The Twa Dugs,
whose bold motto is “If Burns were alive, he’d
drink here.” Historical legends aside, the pub is
best known for its selection of rare whiskies and
cask ales. The Twa Dugs is as popular with tourists
seeking the ‘authentic’ Scottish experience as it is
with locals in need of a dram after a long day. The
whisky board, engraved with the names of more
than 60 fine malts and blends, promises to ease
the pain and soothe the soul.
