Harleys is a well-known bar in the centre of Ayr.
Together with Furys nightclub, it forms the town’s
premier nightspot for locals looking to unwind the
end of a long week. During the day, Harleys is
quieter; pull up a stool and nurse a pint or sink
into a comfy couch while you sip a coffee and
catch up with Twitter. Harleys’ menu is well worth
a look; packed with pub favourites, it features
fresh, reasonably priced fare. Music, which is
chilled during the day, gives way to rock as night
falls and the bar starts to fill up. Every Friday, live
music in Harleys takes the form of indie, blues or
rock outfits, while on Saturday nights, Harleys’
in-house DJ gets the night going with a selection
of party classics, chart toppers and rock classics.
There’s also karaoke on Sundays from 9pm. After
catching a few drinks in Harleys, head upstairs to
Furys nightclub to dance the night away.

Its customers claim it serves the best coffee in
Ayr, while industry leaders believe it to be one of
the best delis in the country, as evidenced by its
shortlisting for the 2014 Scottish Italian Awards.
It would be fair to say that Quattro Venti is a
little bit special then. The cafe and deli, situated
on Ayr’s Maybole Road, serves all the staples
you’d expect of such an establishment including
freshly ground coffee, its espressos made with the
perfect caramel crema. Sandwiches are served on
ciabatta or bagels and filled with a mouth-watering
selection of Italian meats and cheeses. Then
there’s the cakes, which are wickedly indulgent.
No one does dulce quite like the Italians. Quattro
Venti owes much of its success to the relaxed,
laid-back vibe that’s conducive to lingering over
a latte and a cake slice. Ayr has its fair share of
coffee shops, but none of them serve a brew quite
like Quattro Venti.
