ASTON HALL
Aston Hall is one of the
most breathtaking Jacobean
mansions in all of England. Built
by Warwickshire landowner Sir
Thomas Holte between 1618
and 1635, the grand Grade I
listed abode lets visitors step
back through the ages, replete
as it is with opulent interiors
from centuries past. Situated
in a public park on the northern
edge of Birmingham, the
attraction must be seen to be
believed. The redbrick mansion
is a veritable treasure trove,
with guests encouraged to
explore every square inch of the
building, gardens and grounds.
Behold the early 17th-century
plasterwork, elegant wood
carvings and original chimney
pieces. Whether you’re taking
in the splendour on a guided
tour, open day or while blazing
your own trail through the
capacious rooms, you’re sure
to appreciate the craftsmanship
on display. Additional facilities
include a shop, tearoom and
toilets, and visitors can expect
a diverse programme of events,
activities and trails throughout
the season. Admission charges
apply only to the Hall itself,
while guests are free to roam
the grounds at leisure. Free
admission to the whole site is
also offered on the first Sunday
of each month during the open
season, which spans the spring
and summer months.
