Inverness boasts a number of
excellent live venues, but for
sheer size and professionalism,
the Ironworks is in a class of
its own. With its state-of-the-art
equipment and large capacity, it’s
the go-to venue for touring bands,
DJs and comedians playing the
Highland capital. In any given
month, the venue might host
original music from the likes of
Idlewild or Johnny Marr as well
as cover bands emulating acts
as varied as Take That and Iron
Maiden. Throw in DJ sets from
the likes of Erol Alkan, and the
Ironworks can lay claim to being
Inverness’s most diverse live
venue. With a standing capacity
of 1,000, plus another 600
seats, the capacious Ironworks
can cater for international
artists as well as handling local
events. The venue regularly
hosts conferences and events
ranging from board meetings
to exhibitions, workshops and
seminars. Audio-visual materials
are available, including flipcharts
and LCD projectors, and there’s
wifi throughout. With car parking
close by and the city’s train and
bus stations just a two-minute
walk away, it’s no surprise that
the Ironworks has become the
city’s go-to venue for bands
and businesses alike. By day,
the conference facilities are
put to good use, while by night,
everything is cranked up to 11 as
Inverness gets ready to rock.
