ROCPOOL
This boutique brasserie can
lay claim to being the finest
restaurant in Inverness, no
mean feat in a city of this
stature. It’s difficult to place
a finger on the root cause
of the restaurant’s success:
is it the windows that offer
spectacular floodlit views
of the river and castle after
dark? Perhaps it’s the decor,
chic, contemporary and
defined by exciting modern
tones. Or, more likely, it could
be the heavenly quality of the
dishes, modern European
offerings mixed with hearty
Scottish favourites. The
provenance of the food is
an important consideration
for Rocpool, which is why
established local suppliers
are selected to provide
fresh, sustainable produce
throughout the year. From
Black Isle Pork to Fortrose
razor clams and sweet Orkney
crab, no stone has been left
unturned in the pursuit of
culinary perfection. There
are, naturally, a selection of
delicious vegetarian options,
among them butternut squash
and feta cheese fritters with
red pepper and chilli pearl
cous cous and citrus yoghurt.
While you’ll almost certainly
have to book in advance,
the experience, when it
finally arrives, will tickle
your tastebuds in the best
possible way.
