in its fourth generation, is known
primarily for its exhaustive
selection of high quality soups.
The headquarters of the brand
can be found in Fochabers, in
the form of the Baxters Highland
Village. Having produced food
products since 1868, the Baxter
dynasty is a storied one, but
visitors flock to the Highland
Village to learn about more
than just its origins. An audio-
visual presentation reveals how
the family managed to turn the
business into the behemoth
it is today, and details the
involvement of various Baxters
in developing their pioneering
recipes. Needless to say, visitors
can also expect to sample
some of the myriad Baxter food
products during the course of
the tour. Elsewhere, there are
plenty of speciality shops that
are crammed with gift ideas. In
addition to a cook shop, toy shop
and whisky shop, there’s a book
store, outfitters and souvenir
shop. There’s even a dedicated
Christmas shop throughout
December, and a deli should
you wish to grab a coffee and a
bite (the freshly made pancakes
and scones come highly
