Fletcher Moss Park comprises 21 acres of exquisite
parkland, bequeathed by Alderman Fletcher Moss
in 1914. Over a century later, the park continues to
woo visitors, lured by the gardens’ beauty and fine
collection of unusual plants and flowers. Many of the
park’s original features remain intact including the rock
and heather gardens. Tranquil and soothing, a morning
spent wandering the park is a relaxing way to unwind
with nature. The adjacent, award-winning, Parsonage
Gardens, features an alpine house with a variety of
interesting plants. Entry is free to the gardens, which
are open every day of the year. In addition to wandering
the various gardens, visitors can take a stroll along
the Nature Reserve of Stenner Woods, Millgate Fields
and the River Mersey. Thanks to the efforts of Friends
of Fletcher Moss Park and Parsonage Gardens, the
cherished park looks set to remain safe from the threat
of developers and funding cuts.

inspirational. Home’s arthouse cinema screens the
latest indie flicks, documentaries and European
cinema. If it’s quirky, offbeat and acclaimed, you’ll
find it here, alongside classic movies that deserve
another outing on the big screen – one of five
within the arts venue. All through the year, an ever-
changing roster of drama is performed in Home’s
two dedicated theatre spaces. Then there’s the
visual art, courtesy of whichever exhibitions happen
to be currently showing; themes of identity and art
imitating life are explored through collections by
local and national artists. With art, film and theatre
festivals regularly springing up, there’s never a dull
moment at Home.
