DUNDONALD
LINKS
Dundonald Links Golf Course
is fairly new to the scene,
opened early in 2003 on
the stunning west coast
of Scotland. Kyle Phillips
designed the course to be a
modern day classic, a links to
imitate the feel and look of a
course 100 years its senior.
The course is challenging and
enjoyable in equal measure,
its coastal setting providing
dramatic scenery throughout
the changing seasons. The
7100 yard, par 72 course was
originally termed Southern
Gailes, but changed its
name to Dundonald after
an ancient fortification was
found in its midst. The Gaelic
name Dundonald translates
in English to Fort Donald,
and evidence of defensive
ruins can be found which
date back to 200 B.C. History
aside, the club itself is as
enjoyable as the course.
After a challenging day on
the green, head back to relax
in the comfort of Spike Bar.
Enjoy panoramic views over
the Ayrshire coastline and
final play on the 18th hole, or
grab yourself a light snack or
beverage from the extensive
menu. If you need to get a
little practice in, swing away
on the 330 metre range.
