Ayrshire’s finest restaurant is
the product of Keith and Nicola
Braidwood, a husband and
wife team whose reputation for
culinary excellence is legendary.
Their eponymous restaurant
is the culmination of a lifetime
devoted to gastronomy. The
couple have earned their
success through dedication and
sheer hard work, including stints
at the Peat Inn, the Royal Oak at
Yattendon and Shieldhill Hotel.
The philosophy at the heart of
Braidwoods is based around
sourcing quality local ingredients.
Armed with the finest meat, fish
and produce, the Braidwoods
then get to work, toiling to create
sumptuous dishes that combine
inspired pairings with impeccable
presentation. Dishes include
grilled escalope of lightly oak
smoked salmon with poached
quail egg on a bed of leeks,
glazed with chive hollandaise.
Ayrshire lamb is slow roasted;
West Coast scallops are seared
and loin of rabbit is stuffed with
mushroom and wrapped in
parma ham. Fixed price lunch
and dinner menus enable diners
to sample a cross-section of the
Braidwoods’ culinary repertoire,
accompanied by a fine selection
of wine. With a host of awards
and glowing reviews to its name,
Braidwoods
looks
unlikely
to relinquish its position as
North Ayrshire’s preeminent
gastro-restaurant.
