Built on the site of Rabbie Burns’
old schoolhouse, Souter’s
Inn is a one-of-a-kind eatery
on Kirkoswald Main Road.
Part of a local regeneration
project that includes a coffee
house and whiskey shop, the
whitewashed inn has been
recently refurbished inside and
out, improving on features that
were quite impressive to begin
with. The thatched-roofed inn
fuses a contemporary style with
vintage features that draw the
eye. Dining at Souter’s is a joy,
with appetising menus offering
something
for
everyone.
Thanks to the on-site patisserie,
there’s no shortage of pastries
and hand-crafted cakes to
tempt you when dessert rolls
around either. Before that time
comes, there are delightful
starters and mains to sample
however. Stoke your appetite
while warming your soul with
a chunky fish soup or steamed
mussels mariniere; then move
on to a sumptuous main
course. Staple dishes include
a cajun-spiced fillet of salmon
with cashew nuts and a ginger
and lemongrass dressing.

especially popular, as you
might expect – none more so
than haggis, neeps and tatties.
Whatever you choose, you’ll
enjoy the homey ambiance,
top service and scrummy food.
