The North Point Cafe has an impressive claim
to fame: it’s said to be the cafe in which the
future King of England met his wife, Catherine
Middleton, over coffee. Since then, North Point
Cafe has become a popular spot for visiting
monarchists, tourists and locals alike. Enjoy
a healthy breakfast of traditional porridge, or
an indulgent fry-up for breakfast. Relax over
a freshly-brewed cuppa and read the papers,
treat yourself to home-baked scones and jam
for afternoon tea, or pop in for lunch. Just be
sure to arrive early as tables go fast, particularly
in high season. The decor, meanwhile, is cosy
and contemporary, decorated in blues and white
with wooden tables and chairs and a smart red
painted exterior. But if you don’t have time to
stay, you can swing by and pick up a takeaway
to enjoy at your desk or on the nearby seafront.

With over 140 years of experience in the field,
it serves beverages from across the world, as
well as a delicious menu full of locally-sourced
produce. The food is ideal for sharing, with meat
and cheese platters, pica pica (small tapas style
dishes), as well as pates, salads and freshly
baked treats. The range of fine wines is extensive
and exotic, covering the range of white, red, rose,
sparkling and high-end champagnes. Plus there
are Scottish cask ales, beers, spirits, summery
sangria and a cocktail menu featuring stalwart
favourites plus more unusual creations. Here you
can also sample a variety of the premium wines
using the Enomatic wine machine, which allows
you to dispense your own vino.
