50 Queen Street
Glasgow, G1 3DS

Da Vinci’s is as much a part of Glasgow as the
Squiggly Bridge or the traffic cone perennially
perched atop the Duke of Wellington statue. The
takeaway is woven into the fabric of inner city
life, having served Glasgow’s boozy revellers
for as long as anyone can remember. The menu
comprises a 50/50 split: classic chip shop grub
on the one side and Italian on the other. Fancy
spaghetti carbonara with a smoked sausage
on the side? You can have that. Chicken curry,
chips and pizza? No problem. Da Vinci’s winning
formula comes down to a combination of good
service and an innate grasp of the culinary
preferences of Glaswegians. The staff are
friendly and the menu is packed with all your
favourite comfort foods. Whether you’re looking
to slay the late night munchies or simply let
someone else do the cooking for a change, Da
Vinci’s has got you covered.
AZZURRO
91 Cambridge Street, Glasgow, G3 6RU

Glasgow’s diners are fortunate to have a wealth of
Italian restaurants at their disposal, each bidding
to be more authentic and traditional than the last.
Add Azzurro to that list. This is a classic Italian
restaurant, one where the attention to detail
which permeates everything from the service to
the presentation is pleasing to see. A lunch menu
keeps things simple but tasty with three courses
available for a fixed price from 12pm till 2pm. Start
with homemade minestrone before advancing to
chicken breast with mushroom cream sauce or
homemade lasagna. The evening menu kicks in
from 5pm, with dishes that include pork chops, rib-
eye steak and fresh haddock fillet with white wine
and lemon sauce. Naturally, Azzurro’s pizza and
pasta are a highlight, washed down with fruity red
or crisp white wine, but in truth it’s all good, from
the first forkful to the last.
