Cook’s is a hotel, bar and restaurant all in one,
situated in the heart of Stirling. While the hotel
is popular with business and leisure guests, the
restaurant also attracts its fair share of local
residents. It’s a relaxed, airy setting in which to
enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. The produce is
sourced locally and the seasonal dishes are fresh
and inventive. The menu is based around Scottish
cuisine, with a few international favourites thrown
in for good measure. Cook’s grill selection is
dominated by sirloin and ribeye, plus a house
burger that’s crammed with a mouth-watering
array of ingredients. The pulled pork burger is
also worthy of consideration however, served
with apple and tarragon sauce. When it comes
to drinks, an accomplished wine list is topped
with a range of house cocktails, ranging from an
alcoholic Chocolate and Vanilla Milk Shake and a
Dr Cherry Pepper, made with Amaretto.

Situated in the heart of the East Neuk, Earlsferry
is a small village that can lay claim to one of Fife’s
best-loved pubs. With an 18-hole golf course
just outside the door, it’s no surprise that the
restaurant has been long known to locals as the
19th hole. Despite its traditional vibe, the 19th
Hole serves up food every bit as accomplished
as the sort created by modern gastro pubs.
There’s also a selection of hearty pub fare that’s
cooked freshly, with an emphasis on seasonal
ingredients, while a children’s menu is also
available. Daily specials incorporate game,
salads and seafood that’s been landed locally.
The 19th Hole, which has space for 30 diners,
combines friendly service with excellent food.
It’s a simple formula but one that’s served this
venerable institution very well over the years, as
Earlsferry’s locals and visitors will attest.
