121 Morrison Street, Edinburgh, EH3 8AJ

Rodi is a characterful Turkish restaurant whose
regulars hail from far and wide. The Morrison
Street eatery is the sort of place that hungry
diners are willing to journey to, for the freshly
grilled Mediterranean fare makes it all worthwhile.
Carnivores will be in culinary heaven at the
sight of the charcoal-grilled dishes that arrive
sizzling hot and bursting with flavour. The mixed
skewer, loaded with chunks of chicken and lamb,
encapsulates everything that Rodi Restaurant
is about; traditional Turkish food, cooked to
perfection. Charcoal-grilled lamb is served with
freshly baked pitta bread and yoghurt, rice and
salad, while vegetarian options include grilled
aubergine and stuffed vine leaves. Whether you
like your food spicy and zingy or light and mild,
there should be something on the menu to tickle
your taste buds. Try the mezze, savour the kebabs
and finish with an indulgent baklava.
FIVE GUYS
Unit C6 Fountain Park
130 Dundee Street, Edinburgh, EH11 1AF
0131 229 2930
The Five Guys concept has been a huge
success story, providing a bridge between fast
food and restaurant dining. The Five Guys
story begins in Arlington, Virginia in 1986
when Jerry Murrell give his sons a choice: go
to college or open a restaurant. The restaurant
won out, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The menu is limited primarily to burgers and
hotdogs and the only side on offer is fries.
Unlike most fast food outlets, Five Guys don’t
use timers to cook their food. Instead they
rely on the knowledge and experience of the
staff to get it right. The most famous patron
of Five Guys is Barack Obama and since Five
Guys refuse to deliver, the former president
has been pictured at the fast food eatery more
than once – although never in the Fountain
Park branch. Not yet, anyway.
