Yes Sushi, located on Edinburgh’s modern
Hanover Street, is one of the most stylish
contemporary restaurants in the city. Open
for lunch and dinner and offering both sit-in
and takeaway menus, Yes Sushi is a great
place to go if you’re in the New Town and
are craving sushi. Even if you’re not a fan
of sushi, Yes Sushi still has plenty to offer,
including starters of Japanese dumplings and
miso soup, and main courses which include
tempura vegetables and grilled beef skewers.
Of course, the sushi is the restaurant’s main
selling point, and it doesn’t disappoint. Yes
Sushi offers fresh, hand-rolled sushi at all
times of day. Great food combined with friendly
staff and a relaxing atmosphere makes Yes
Sushi the prime spot for finding Japanese food
in Edinburgh’s cosmopolitan New Town.
KANPAI SUSHI
8-10 Grindlay Street, Edinburgh, EH3 9AS
0131 228 1602
Kanpai takes its name from the Japanese
method of toasting, so before you order your
sake you know exactly what to say before
imbibing. Kanpai Sushi is exactly as you might
expect from a sushi bar, with a minimalist
design which speaks to a Japanese aesthetic
for symmetry, beauty and perfection. In that
regard, the sushi mirrors the surroundings,
prepared with an eye for detail which raises
food from a meal into an art form. Raw fish
is of course a staple of any sushi restaurant,
but for those who like their food to actually be
cooked there are plenty of options. The tempura
and teppan dishes are deep fried and cooked
on a griddle respectively and the miso soup is
always a favourite. Lastly, if you’re looking for
something other than Sake to make your toast
try the Hakushu Single Malt. Kanpai!
