Tours leave from:
St Giles’ Cathedral,
The Royal Mile, Edinburgh EH1 1RE
Modern day Edinburgh is full of life, but it is a city
where the dead outnumber the living and ghosts
of the past refuse to lay at rest. Whether you’re an
ardent believer or an outright sceptic, City of the
Dead’s ghost tour promises to fire your imagination.
The tours are led by a mixture of historians and
thespians whose ability to scare is as refined as
their ability to weave a good yarn. Whether you
choose to believe the myths and legends is your
prerogative, but the characters referenced are
all part of the historical record. The Underground
City of the Dead Ghost Tour explores the South
Bridge Vaults, also known as Damnation Alley. If
the underground vaults fill you with dread, there are
alternative options – the City of the Dead Haunted
Graveyard Tour, or The Double Dead Walk which
promises the full shebang of ghosts, ghouls and
graves, laced with enough horror to leave you
sleeping with the lights on for a week.

Rosslyn Chapel, also called the Collegiate
Chapel of St. Matthew, is an ornate Roman
Catholic church dating back to the 15th Century.
The medieval marvel is a quirky and characterful
old building that’s full of mystique. Curious
carvings, gurning gargoyles and enchanting
engravings cling to every surface and lurk in
every nook and cranny. Long before being
immortalised in Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code,
Rosslyn Chapel lured visitors in their droves.
An important landmark in Scottish religious
history, Rosslyn Chapel is one of the nation’s
most beautiful monuments, often described
as ‘a library in stone’. Visitors can explore the
Chapel’s carvings, which cover the ceiling of the
church and adorn many of the building’s corners
and walls. Finally, Rosslyn Chapel also includes
a well-stocked souvenir shop, ensuring that no
one need go home empty-handed.
