EDINBURGH ZOO
Edinburgh Zoo is Scotland’s
preeminent wildlife enclosure,
its spacious pens attracting a
mesmerising array of creatures
great and small. From
aardwolves to Asian lions, all
kinds of beasties and big beasts
can be found scampering,
prowling and crawling within
its walls. Naturally, the
zoo is a popular draw with
families, lured not only by the
creatures themselves, but
also the interactive workshops
that promote a hands-on
approach. It’s here that kids
can look forward to handling
snakes, mammals and even
cockroaches. When little legs
finally tire of all the walking and
animal spotting, a cheerful cafe
is on hand to revitalise visitors,
with a fair selection of snacks
and drinks and a dedicated
children’s menu. The zoo’s
biggest attraction, the giant
pandas, are housed in their
own
specially-constructed
enclosure
complete
with
an elevated viewing area.
Booking ahead is required
in order to catch a glimpse of
the Chinese pandas. Tickets
need to be printed in advance
prior to visiting the zoo due
to the immense popularity of
the pandas. With the option to
book upto two months in ahead
however, you should have no
trouble securing an intimate
audience with Edinburgh Zoo’s
most famous residents.
