There are quite a few cocktail bars in Glasgow,
but Blue Dog’s definitely one of the better ones.
It’s got a piano bar for a start. This classy haven
for cats in two-tone shoes and girls in glamorous
dresses is as chilled out as venues come; deep
booths range along the left-hand redbrick wall
while a piano player presides over the baby
grand in the corner. Guest singers and pianists
play most evenings – a mix of blues and jazz is
typical – while drinks on offer include creations
such as Thyme after Thyme and Rhubarb and
Apple Molasses. Yes, Blue Dog is about as far
from a hard-bitten Glasgow boozer as you’re
likely to get. The clientele includes a good mix
of couples and young professionals in search
of a modicum of serenity in a city known for
its multitude of rowdy nightspots. Blue Dog is
their oasis.

The Coia family opened their first café in Dennistoun
in 1928, and ever since then Coia’s Café has been
a favourite meeting place for local people, both
young and old. Serving hearty portions of Glasgow-
Italian favourites at a brisk pace to family groups,
date nights and groups of friends. Coia’s Café today
provides a wide range of meals and snacks. The
menu has something for everyone, the ever popular
fish and chips and various traditional Italian dishes
are all in our menu – Pastas, steaks, langostines
and a fine selection of pizzas as well as many new
dishes to tantalise the taste buds. Desserts run the
gamut of sundaes, cheesecakes, bakes and Italian
specialities, with Coia’s own ice-cream in its myriad
flavours often playing a starring role. A full breakfast
is available before noon and after, if that is what you
really fancy. We still pride ourselves in four basics:-
friendly attitude, politeness, cleanliness and high
quality food.
