29 Ashton Lane, Glasgow, G12 8SJ
Jinty McGuinty’s is undoubtedly one of the West
End’s most popular watering holes. Despite
its fairly modest dimensions, the mahogany-
panelled pub throws its support behind local
talent and promotes live music sessions six nights
of the week. Should the sun makes its annual
appearance: Jinty’s has one of the very best beer
gardens in the Lane, and thanks to a multitude of
patio heaters, you can enjoy an al fresco drink on
the patio even in the winter months. The bar staff
at Jinty’s always make you feel like a long-lost pal,
and the pub is a popular spot for topers indulging
in that most frenzied of Glasgow pastimes, the
Sub Crawl. For the uninitiated, this is a pub
crawl whose itinerary is mapped according to the
circular route of the city’s subway. Named Sunday
Mail Pub of the Year in 2015, Jinty’s pretty much
guarantees you a grand night.
THE SMOKIN’ FOX
6-8 Waterloo Street, Glasgow, G2 6DA

The Smokin’ Fox is the sort of bar it’s easy to amble
into and a lot harder to leave. The Pub & Scullery
is a tale of two destinations hosting a Victorian
look and creating a sense of calm modernity,
whilst retaining a classic pub environment. You’ll
be delighted to drink, eat and shoot the breeze
with mates among the minimalist decor, but
there’s nothing minimal about the portion sizes.
The feel-good food created with seasonal and
local produce is hearty food to warm the soul and
seal a smile across your face. There is something
for all appetites, whether you are just grazing on
a few nibbles or looking for a full on feast. Just
across from Central Station, nestled on Waterloo
Street, The Smokin’ Fox is the perfect spot for
nursing a cool craft beer or a superior glass of red
while you nibble, chill and generally defer doing
anything more taxing for a few hours.
