The Kitchin is an Edinburgh institute whose
reputation extends far beyond the confines of
the EH postcode. Opened in 2006 by Tom and
Michaela Kitchin, this chic eatery serves award-
winning fare from a waterfront location. With a
philosophy that’s built around seasonal cooking,
the menu is refreshed regularly. Food is lovingly
prepared using locally-sourced ingredients that
combine the best elements of Scottish and French
cuisine. Within a year of opening, The Kitchin
had been awarded a prestigious Michelin star.
This was followed by a clutch of awards including
Best UK Restaurant 2011 and Best Restaurant
in Scotland. The Kitchin is a testament to the
couples’s love for good food, with dishes made
using pork cheeks, bone marrow, crispy ox tongue
and terrine of monkfish liver tasting every bit as
good as they sound. There’s no other restaurant
in Scotland quite like The Kitchin.
