If you prefer a dining experience that’s out of the
ordinary, book a table at Stravaigin. Here you can
feast on unusual gourmet creations such as roast
wood pigeon, truffled celeriac and potato gratin, oat
milk creme and tonka bean panna cotta. There’s
a strong Scottish influence in the ingredient list,
with plenty of local produce. Seafood comes from
John Vallance, pork from Ramsay of Carluke,
other meats from Simon Howie and Campbells,
cheese from George Mewes of Glasgow and fresh
veggies and herbs from Stravaigin’s own small
holding Lochlibo in Ayrshire. The main restaurant
can be found downstairs, while the cafe bar is at
street level for more casual snacks and drinks.
Stay and drink till late, with opening hours until
1am, seven days a week. There’s frequent live
traditional music at ‘Stravaigin sessions’, making
it a great place to spot local talent too.
